So do we… But what is even more exciting for us is to become a part of that landmark. In 2016, Mr. Spindle had the privilege of becoming a part of the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Originally built in the 1880s and 1890s, the railway allows you to enjoy the invigorating grandeur while ascending Pikes Peak in all seasons.
We had the pleasure of dealing with Carlos Aguirre of Peak Framing, Inc. from Colorado Springs, Colorado on this new construction project for the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Carlos provided us with photos of the existing spindles and newels along with detailed drawing which enabled us to replicate the details of the existing historical structure. We followed up with a quote and samples. Upon approval, we manufactured these beautiful handrails, spindles and newels for the new structure. We tapered the tops of shoerails and notched the spindle bottoms to match. This allows the railings to shed water, helping prevent rot. Take note of the spindles used in the upper portion of the new structure… they’re our standard Colonial Spindles. The entire order was delivered on schedule. The railings were installed and painted by Carlos’s crew. And the structure looks like it was original to the facility.
Thanks Carlos, it was a pleasure working with you!
