Decorative newel posts add a nice touch for curb appeal to your front porch or deck. They are used to carry the load of the railing sections. Cedar and Redwood are a clear, kiln dried, finger joint, laminated product. It is recommended to seal them prior to installation. Since they are kiln dried, there is no reason to wait. We do recommend a stain blocker primer to keep the natural tenons from bleeding through.
